About Miles Davis
Miles Dewey Davis III (May 26, 1926 – September 28, 1991) was an American trumpeter, bandleader and composer. He is among the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and 20th-century music. In a career spanning nearly five decades, Davis was at the forefront of several major stylistic developments in jazz, including bebop, cool jazz, hard bop, third stream, modal jazz, avant-garde jazz, and jazz fusion. His legacy extends into rock, funk, classical, and hip-hop. Born into an upper class family in Alton, Illinois, and raised in East St.

The release
About The Musings Of Miles
The Musings of Miles, also reissued as The Beginning, is the first 12" LP record by Miles Davis. It was issued by Prestige Records in September 1955, following several LPs issued in the 10 inch format. The six tracks were all recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's home studio on June 7, 1955. Pianist Red Garland and drummer Philly Joe Jones would go on to join Miles' First Great Quintet, that would record later in 1955. "A Night in Tunisia" features Jones playing with special drum sticks which had bells riveted to the shaft.
